Date Occurred: 05/03/2015 Reported Damages: $99.99 I received a phone call from a person named Sam who claimed to be a part of Microsoft Windows Technical Department. They told me that their geek support received a notice that my computer had been hacked two days ago and that it was in critical state. They said that my windows certificate had expired and was in a grace period and that it had been hacked period. They said that my computer would crash permanently within minutes or hours if I did not buy their program and have their tech support people work on it. I told them my computer could die and that I had another computer and they said that my network had been hacked and my laptop would be destroyed too. They proceeded to show me all kinds of information to verify the hacking so I believed them. I had report cards to write and important information for my business on my computer and felt I was in a desperate situation and paid them $100 to fix my computer. I later read all the complaints and see that I am not the only one who was scammed.
